Compare Vape Shop Insurance Quotes

Many traditional insurers shy away from vape and e-cigarette retailers – quite simply because they don’t understand the industry!

The team at Vapesafe insure e-cigarette businesses throughout the UK and understand the unique set of risks, tailoring cover to your specific requirements, comparing cover from up to five of the UK’s leading insurers.

No two vape shops are the same, whether you are importing your own stock from China or from a UK wholesaler, we can accommodate your needs. Similarly, if you carry out mixing, or produce your own e-liquids, our insurers will provide all the required protection including full products liability cover.

Our bespoke business insurance for e-cigarette shops will protect your buildings (or tenants improvements for leased premises), business contents and stock, electronic and computer and equipment as well as your shop front and money.

All policies will cover your legal liability risks in the form of public and products liability as well as employers liability insurance, should you have any staff.

What are the other main insurance risks for an e-cigarette shop?

Alongside products liability, you should also purchase cover against injury or damage to third party property in the form of public liability insurance, protecting against slips, trips or other incidents shop customers or other visitors.

Should you engage any employees, regardless as to whether they are full or part-time, you are required by law to purchase employers liability insurance. Employers liability provides cover for legal costs and compensation payments following claims by an employee for injury or illness sustained as a result of their employment with your business.

Alongside your liability protection, you should also arrange cover for business contents, buildings, stock and money cover. Protecting your stock in transit is another potential consideration - check carefully at which point you are responsible for the stock / goods and arrange the appropriate transit insurance if required.

E-Cigarette Shop Insurance Claims Example

An e-cigarette exploded in a customer’s pocket causes severe burns. The retailer received a Solicitors letter claiming damages and compensation in excess of £20,000.

Aren’t E-Cigarette manufacturers or wholesalers responsible for stock supplied to vape shops?

The simple answer is yes! An e-cig manufacturer and/or wholesaler has a legal responsibility for any goods supplied to shops or other third parties. However, whenever injury or damage occurs, lawyers will still involve all relevant parties in their proceedings whilst responsibility is determined. In the vape industry this is particularly important as you cannot rely on suppliers remaining in business or retaining the correct cover themselves – if you purchase the correct level of insurance then the insurer will manage the claims process and subrogate any losses as appropriate.
